TYLER, February 14, 2014— The No. 25 ranked UT Tyler women's basketball team set a new record for wins in-a-season with 19, defeating American Southwest Conference-foe Concordia 71-61 on Thursday. The Patriots are now 19-3 this season, and 17-2 in conference.
The Patriots (19-3, 17-2) and Tornados (10-12, 8-11) played close throughout the first half, but UT Tyler grabbed a 30-21 lead with 4:35 left in the half.
Concordia would not go away, fighting back over the remaining four minutes to close the Patriots' lead to 36-33 at the half.
UT Tyler opened the second half on a 13-2 run, going up 49-37 just four minutes into the second half.
The Tornados were able to close the UT Tyler-lead to just six points, 61-55 with 6:07 left, but the experienced Patriots were able to take control, eventually winning 71-61.

Freshman Madison Wilson was finished with 13 points and a team-high seven rebounds, while Brittany King added 10 points and seven rebounds.

UT Tyler also tied the mark for conference-wins in a season with 17, with three games remaining on the regular-season schedule.
The Patriots will honor the four seniors on the team, playing their last home game of the season on Saturday, against Mary Hardin-Baylor at 1 p.m.
