TYLER, January 10, 2014-- The UT Tyler women's basketball team dropped its first American Southwest Conference game of the year, falling 77-69 to Mary Hardin-Baylor on Thursday evening. The Patriots started the year 8-0 in conference-play before the loss on Thursday night.
The first seven minutes of the game saw both teams playing evenly before the Patriots (10-2, 8-1) shot out to a 21-12 lead on a Madison Wilson jumper with 10:57 left in the first half.
Trailing by nine, UMHB (7-6, 7-3) went on an impressive 11-0 run, going up 23-21 just five minutes later.
The Cru continued to hold on to the lead, taking a 34-31 lead into the locker room at the half.
In the second, the Patriots found themselves up 48-44 when Wilson hit another jumper with 14:46 left in regulation.
The four-point lead would not hold, with UMHB closing out the game on a 33-21 run, notching the 77-69 win.
The loss is the first for UT Tyler since Nov. 22 when they fell to Rhodes College, ending the second-longest win-streak in program history at nine games.
Brittany King registered another double-double, finishing with 19 points and 10 rebounds while She'Cara Humphrey led the Patritos with 20 points in the loss.
UMHB's Macy Moore led all scorers with 28 points, including a perfect 6-6 from three-point land.
The Patriots will now head to Austin to take on Concordia-Tx at 1 p.m. on Saturday, January 11.
