MARSHALL , January 31, 2014— The UT Tyler women's basketball team improved to 15-3 on the year, drubbing American Southwest Conference rival East Texas Baptist 84-62 on Thursday. In the win, six Patriots scored in double-digits, led by Brittany King who totaled 16 on the night.
The Patriots dominated for most of the game, answering back after the Lady Tigers (6-11, 4-10) took their biggest lead of the night, 20-15 with 6:32 left in the first half.
UT Tyler answered with a 19-5 run over the next five minutes, taking a 34-24 lead on a pair of free throws by King with 1:10 left in the first.
After taking a 37-29 at the half, the Patriots continued to roll, going on a 24-5 run which led to a 61-36 lead with just under 12 minutes remaining.
ETBU would inch closer, but was not able to get closer than 16 points the rest of the way, eventually falling 84-62.
UT Tyler outshot the Lady Tigers 45-percent to 35-percent, while dominating the boards 45-27.
King would finish with 16 points and 13 rebounds, her sixth double-double of the year, while She'Cara Humphrey would add 14 points and eight rebounds.
Taylor Murphy finished with 12 points, while Teylor Seals, Madison Wilson and Makenzi May finished with 11 points each.
UT Tyler will continue their regular-season schedule this Saturday, February 1 as they take on LeTourneau University at 1 p.m., in Longview.
