TYLER, December 20, 2013-- The UT Tyler women's basketball team remained undefeated in American Southwest Conference play, defeating East Texas Baptist 82-65 on Thursday. Four players scored in double-digits, led by She'Cara Humphrey who scored 21 points and totaled eight rebounds.
The Tigers (2-4, 1-4) jumped on the Patriots (8-1, 6-0) early, going up 13-6 just six minutes into the game.
UT Tyler fought back, taking an 18-15 lead with 8:20 left in the first on a Madison Wilson jumper.
East Texas Baptist would answer, going on an impressive 15-2 run over the next six minutes, taking a 30-20 lead with 3:34 remaining in the first half.
Before the game got out-of-hand, UT Tyler answered back, going on a 15-4 run to end the half, highlighted by a Danai Woods steal and layup with 1.2 seconds remaining.
The Patriots extended their 35-34 lead to 46-39 just two minutes into the second half, taking control of the once-close game.
UT Tyler extended its second-half lead to as much as 17 points, winning 82-65 over the Tigers.
Humphrey led the way with 21 points, followed by Teylor Seals who finished with 18 points and seven steals, just three off the game-record.
Brittany King and Danai Woods each finished with 12 points, while Woods added eight assists on the night.
The Tigers shot 45-percent on the night, led by Amanda Rucker who finished with 13 points.
UT Tyler won the rebound battle, totaling 42 boards to the Tigers 33.
The win is the seventh in-a-row for the Patriots, who are a conference-best 6-0 in league play.
The Patriots will now have some time off on the Christmas-break before heading to Alpine, Texas to take on Sul Ross on Thursday, January 2, at 5:30 pm.
