SAN ANTONIO, December 9, 2013— UT Tyler head softball coach Mike Reed was honored this weekend at the National Fastpitch Coaches Association 2013 National Convention for reaching the 400-win milestone this past season. The UT Tyler coaching staff was also honored for being named the 2013 West Region Staff of the Year.
Coach Reed and the staff helped lead the Patriots to a 47-6 year, while reaching the 2013 DIII World Series.
Assistant coaches Whitney Wyly, Megan Dobrinski, Coby Gipson and Christy Gipson helped the Patriots reach their sixth-straight NCAA postseason and third NCAA World Series appearance, including the Tyler Regional championship.
During the 2013 season, coach Reed won his 300th game as the UT Tyler head coach, and his 400th overall game in his career.
