UT Tyler Soccer teams named NSCAA Academic Winners

TYLER., November 22, 2013— The UT Tyler men's and women's soccer teams were once again named National Soccer Coaches Association of American Team Academic award winners, the organization announced Thursday.  UT Tyler is one of just 184 schools nationwide that had both the men's and women's teams make the list.

The women's team has now been named a NSCAA Team Academic Award-winner for five consecutive years, while the men have been tabbed three years in-a-row.

The NSCAA annually recognizes college and high school soccer programs that have excelled in the classroom, in addition to their work on the field.

A total of 862 college soccer teams (269 men, 593 women) posted a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher, thereby earning the NSCAA Team Academic Award for the 2012-13 academic year.

Both teams ended the year in the American Southwest Conference Championship tournament, with the men finishing as runners-up and the women falling in the ASC semi-finals.
