TYLER, February 18, 2014-- The UT Tyler men's golf team is currently in sixth-place after day one of the Linda Lowery Inviational hosted by the Falconhead Golf Resort. Sophomore Buddy Hallman led the way for the Patriots with a 77, good enough for an 11th-place tie.
Hallman was the top day-one finisher for the Patriots, followed by Chapman Herwood who shot a day-one 78, good enough for a 14th-place tie.
Dayton Cargill finished in a tie for 30th after shooting an 81, while teammate Charley Graves finished one stroke behind in a tie for 34th place.
Alden Fortner finished in a tie for 48th, shooting an 86 after one day of competition.
UT Tyler totaled a combined 318, 14 strokes behind first-round leader and host Concordia, who shot a combined 304.
Schreiner (306) and Mary Hardin-Baylor (309) rounded out the top-three, while Southeran Arkansas and Hardin-Simmons tied for fourth after day one with a combined 315.
After the Patriots, Concordia-Purple finished in seventh, followed by Texas-Dallas, Texas-Lutheran and LeTourneau.
The final round of the Linda Lowery will begin at 9 a.m., tomorrow.
