BELTON, February 26, 2014-- The No. 6 ranked UT Tyler women's golf team took the top spot at the 2014 UMHB Lady Cru Invitational, winning by 18 strokes at the two-day tournament. Sophomore Laura Lindsey finished first in medalist competition, while freshman Morgan Loth finished in fifth.
The Patriots shot a combined 616, 18 strokes in front of host Mary Hardin-Baylor who shot a combined 634.
Lindsey, a sophomore from Montgomery, finished first for the third time this season, shooting 72-75-147 for a two-stroke win over Tyler Junior College's Rebecca Bostrom.
Loth finished just six strokes off the lead, shooting 77-76-153 for the tournament, finishing by herself in fifth-place.
No Patriot playing in the top-five finished out of the top-13 golfers, as Jordan Sloane finished in a tie for ninth-place after firing a 78-80-158.
Marina Rhodes shot 78-81-159 and Taylor Sloane shot 80-80-160, finishing in 12th and 13th place respectively.
Freshman Danielle Poe also competed in medalist competition, finishing in a tie for 27th after shooting 81-87-168 for the tourney.
Western Texas CC (645) finished in third, while Tyler Junior College (652) finished 36 strokes off the pace in fourth-place.
Rhodes College (657) and Oklahoma Baptist (657) finished in fifth and sixth-place respectively, while LeTourneau had to withdraw due to injury.
The win for the ladies marks the fifth win in six tournaments played since September.
