Softball advances, Ranked No. 3 In Nation

TYLER, March 8, 2013— The UT Tyler softball team moved up a spot in the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Poll, coming in as the No. 3 ranked team in the nation.  Last week, the Patriots were ranked No. 4 in the first poll of the 2013 season.

UT Tyler has started the season 8-0, and heads to Columbus, Georgia for the prestigious Leadoff Classic which features 28 of the top DIII-softball teams in the nation.

Montclair State (0-0), who received seven first-place votes comes in as the top-team in the nation, with Luther (0-0) coming in at No. 2.

Emory comes in at No. 4 in the poll, receiving one first-place vote, while Tufts rounds out the top-five, dropping two spots from last week's poll.

Defending national champion Pacific Lutheran comes in at No. 15, while fellow American Southwest Conference east division rivals Louisiana College (6-1) and East Texas Baptist (8-0) come in at No. 24 and No. 25 respectively.
