Palestine ISD searches for new Athletic Director

PALESTINE, May 21, 2014— Palestine ISD has begun the search for a new head football coach and Athletic Director following the resignation of Lance Angel, who is leaving to accept a position as the Athletic Director for Bryan ISD.

According to Palestine Superintendent Jason Marshall, the board would like to see a replacement in the position as early as June to cause as minimal a disruption to the football program as possible.

“I certainly know that football is a big thing in Palestine,” Superintendent Marshall said. “Our kids work very hard in there and we want to give them the best chance to be successful.”

The deadline for applications will be June 3, and interviews will likely begin prior to that, although the final decision will not be made until after the deadline. Approximately 30 applications were received on the first day the position was posted.

Superintendent Marshall is confident they will find the right candidate for the job, and wishes Coach Angel well in his endeavors.

“Certainly we wish Coach Angel well, and he certainly is deserving of a job as large as Bryan,” said Superintendent Marshall.
