Military Appreciation Day scheduled for Saturday

TYLER, April 12, 2013-- The UT Tyler softball and UT Tyler baseball teams will host Military Appreciation Day this Saturday at the UT Tyler Ballpark.  Both squads will welcome verterans and current servicemen and women with free admission to Saturday's games.

The No. 13-ranked UT Tyler baseball team kicks off a Saturday doubleheader with American Southwest Conference rival LeTourneau at 1 p.m., on Saturday.

Heroes from the Wounded Warrior Project will be throwing out the first pitch at the baseball game on Saturday; just one of the many ways UT Tyler will honor these men and women.

The No. 3 ranked softball team will host No. 14 East Texas Baptist in a doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m., on Saturday, with the first pitch being thrown out by Tom Cronin, father of senior outfielder Joey Cronin.

UT Tyler will wear special hats specially designed for Military Appreciation Day, while fans also have a chance to win free giveaways.

The Department of Veterans Affairs will have an interactive vehicle as well, giving fans a chance to find out more about our veterans.

UT Tyler is proud to support the Wounded Warrior Project, whose mission is to honor and empower wounded warriors.  WWP's purpose is to raise awareness and to enlist the public's aid for the needs of the injured service members, to help injured servicemen and women aid and assist each other, and to provide unique, direct programs and services to meet their needs.  WWP is a national, nonpartisan organization headquartered in Jacksonville, Florida.  To get involved, and learn more, please visit woundedwarriorproject.org
