Men's Golf in 2nd, four-strokes back at W Region Invite

GEORGETOWN, April 8, 2014-- Buddy Hallman finished day one of the West Region Invite in fifth-place, helping to lead the UT Tyler men's golf team to a second-place day one finish.  Hallman shot 71 in the opening round, and finished the day with a 78 for a combined 149.

Hallman finished a stroke in front of teammate Chapman Herwood, who shot 150 and finished day one in sixth-place.

Alex Trivanovich finished in a tie for seventh-place after shooting 73-78 on the first day for a combined 151.

Dayton Cargill and Cody Gilbert each shot 156 on day one, finishing in a tie for 16th-place.

As a team, the Patriots shot a combined 600 in the first two rounds, finishing the day four strokes behind Schreiner (596).

Host Southwestern (609) finished the day in third, while Texas Lutheran (616) and Hardin-Simmons (622) rounded out the top-five.

Trinity University shot 626, finishing the day on sixth-place out of six teams.

The final round will begin this morning, at 9 a.m., at the Berry Creek Country Club in Georgetown.
