LETU Men's, Women's Tennis take wins over Transylvania

LONGVIEW, March 11, 2014—The LeTourneau University men’s tennis team snapped a two-match losing streak with a 9-0 win over Transylvania University on Monday.

It is the fourth 9-0 win on the season as the YellowJackets improve to 9-3 on the season. After taking all three of the doubles matches, LeTourneau swept through the singles matches without surrendering a set.

Sophomore Laird Beaty failed to concede a point with the 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 2 singles. Also impressive in his win was a junior Sindre Johnsgaard, who won at No. 3 singles, who posted a 6-2, 6-0 win.

LeTourneau will wrap up its Spring Break trip with a matchup against the University of Mobile, on Tuesday, at 10:00 a.m.

The LeTourneau University women’s tennis team continued its Spring Break trip with a 6-3 win over Transylvania University on Monday afternoon.

The YellowJackets (6-4) began the match winning at No. 2, and No. 3 doubles. The No. 2 doubles team of Shelby May and Megan Rush defeated the Pioneers duo 8-6, and the No. 3 doubles duo of Amy Miley and Miranda Lamb blanketed the TU duo 8-0.

In singles, Transylvania won at No. 1 and 2 singles, but the YellowJackets clinched the match, winning the remaining four singles matches. Three of the four victories came in straight sets and the fourth at No. 3 singles came when the TU foe retired in the third set.

LeTourneau will wrap up the Spring Break trip with a contest of the University of Mobile, on Tuesday, at 10:00 a.m.
