Girls Varsity Soccer team wins the East Texas Shootout Soccer tournament hosted by Palestine

PALESTINE, JANUARY 8, 2018 -- In a very thrilling match, the ladycats defeated a very talented team, that went to overtime after a 1-1 score on regulation time. The final score was 2-1 over Grace Community from Tyler.

Shout out to our Freshman goalkeeper Lesley Chavez for an outstanding job protecting our goal; despite the fact that she could not keep a clean sheet she had 12 saves to help us win the match.

Our defense played "lights out" and did an excellent job last night!! Shout out to Brianna Gomez, Yaneli Casas, Janet Aleman, Catie Martinez and Paola Rangel for a job well done!!

Last, but not least, our offensive side of the team also had an outstanding performance. Our offense was led by Madison Munoz, Isabel A. Garcia and Lacey Gambrell. After the ladycats were down by one goal, our offense kept fighting strong to come back and score the two goals to win the match. Isabel Garcia scored the two wining goals assisted by Madison Munoz and Lacey Gambrell.

Other standouts for the match are Melissa Giron, Iris Chavez and Mikayla Flynn.

The Ladycats will be back in action this weekend as we travel to compete in the 2018 Hallsvillle Girls Soccer Showcase.
