Elkhart's Lindsey named THSCA All-Star Game MVP

ELKHART, July 16, 2014—Elkhart’s Courtney Lindsey, an exceptional athlete and softball player, was named Most Valuable Player in last week’s Texas High School Coaches Association All-Star Game.

Lindsey got the hit for the RBI which resulted in a win for the blue team.

Lindsey is no stranger to success, as she leads the Elkhart outfield and infield and rings in as the top hitter. According to Elkhart Softball’s Brandy Martin, Lindsey is “a leader and role model for the rest of the team and athletic program.”

Our of 99 plate appearances, Lindsey only had 8 strikeouts. Her stats include:

  • .468 Batting average
  • 27 singles, 9 doubles, 3 triples, and 1 homerun
  • 12 RBIs
  • 28 runs scored
  • 22 stolen bases
  • Slugging %: .637
  • On Base %: .500
  • Fielding %: .967
  • 40 putouts
  • 1 double play
  • 7 assists

In her high school softball career, she has received the following awards:

  • Freshman year (2011):  All District Newcomer of the Year
  • Sophomore year (2012):  1st Team All District
  • Junior year (2013):  All District Defensive Player of the Year, Dogwood Circle Defensive Player of the Year, Texas Girls Coaches Association All State Team, Texas Sports Writers Association All State Team
  • Senior year (2014):  All District Defensive Player of the Year, Dogwood Circle Defensive Player of the Year, Texas Girls Coaches Association All State Team, Texas Girls Coaches Association 1A-2A-3A All Star Team, Texas Sports Writers Association All State Team

In addition, Lindsey is an honors student. She will be attending Temple College next fall on a softball scholarship.
