Cayuga ISD names new Athletic Director

CAYUGA, May 22, 2013--On Monday night, Cayuga ISD Board of Trustees named Cayuga Assistant Russell Holden the new Athletic Director at Cayuga ISD. Holden will replace former AD Greg Jenkins, who took a similar position recently at Tenaha ISD.

Holden, a 15-year coach and educator, will soon be completing his fifth year with the Cayuga School District. Coach Holden was also part of a staff at San Antonio Alamo Heights which won the football state championship in Class 4A in 2006 by defeating Copperas Cove and their blue-chip quarterback, Robert Griffin III.

Holden holds both a Bachelor and Masters degree and has been a Head Track Coach, defensive and offensive coordinator, and a long-time basketball assistant. He has three state championship rings as an assistant; two as an assistant football coach (Alamo Heights, 2006; Cayuga 2009) and one as an assistant basketball coach (Cayuga 2010). Holden also serves as a Geometry teacher at Cayuga High School and recently finished his Principal Certification.
