TYLER, August 27, 2014— With 12 State Championships on the resumes of the eight schools, the Trinity Mother Frances Football Classic returns to Trinity Mother Frances Rose Stadium to celebrate its 11th anniversary. The four-game event will be held August 28, 29, and 30.
The first game of the Trinity Mother Frances Football Classic will feature Gilmer and Liberty-Eylau Thursday, August 28, at 7:30 p.m. The Buckeyes are among the favorites to win the Class 4A, Div. II State Championship.
The second game of the Classic, Friday, August 29, will feature Plano and co-host John Tyler at 7:30 p.m. John Tyler starts the season No. 8 in Class 5A. Between the two schools are nine State Championships.
The third game of the Classic will match Grand Saline and Frankston, at 11 a.m., Saturday, August 30. In a matchup of Indians, this is the first meeting between the two schools.
In the finale of the Classic on Saturday, August 30, Keller Fossil Ridge will meet co-host Robert E. Lee at 7:30 p.m. The Red Raiders are shooting for back-to-back-Classic wins, while Fossil Ridge won nine games last season.
The Trinity Mother Frances Football Classic was created by TITUS Sports Marketing, which provides sales and marketing assistance to Tyler ISD. The rich 11-year history of the Trinity Mother Frances Football Classic is loaded with State Champions, as seven of 10 times since the event’s inception in 2004, one of the participants ended its season with a State Championship.
Reserved tickets to the Trinity Mother Frances Football Classic for Robert E. Lee and John Tyler high schools are available at the Tyler ISD Athletic Office. Each of the other six high schools has tickets available at their respective schools.
