Woman faces false report charges after report of stabbing incident

TYLER, April 22, 2013--On April 19, at approximately 3:55 p.m., the Tyler Police Department responded to 821 S. Chilton, on a report of a female who had been stabbed at that location.

At the scene, Officers made contact with the victim, 39 year-old Rebecca Jones.  Jones advised that she came home to find a man in her house.  Jones claimed that the man stabbed her several times and then fled out the back door. 

Jones described the man as a heavy-set, white male with brown hair, wearing a navy blue shirt and jeans.

Jones was transported to ETMC hospital where she was treated for several superficial puncture wounds and released.

Officers, along with a Tyler Police K9 team, searched the area but failed to locate the alleged suspect

Later, in an interview with Tyler Police Investigators, Rebecca Jones admitted that she lied about being attacked and stabbed, and stated the incident never happened.  According to police, there is no unidentified suspect and no need for further public concern.  

Jones is facing potential criminal charges for False Alarm or Report, a Class A Misdemeanor, and False Report to a Peace Officer, a Class B Misdemeanor.
