NACOGDOCHES, November 22, 2013— Last night at 11:30 p.m., The Nacogdoches Police Department was called to a reported stabbing at a residence in the 300 block of West Spradley Street.
Upon arrival, officers found the victim in the garage area of the residence, suffering from a single stab wound to the upper portion of his body. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he died a short time later.
The victim has been identified as Derek Maiden, age 42, who resides at the residence on West Spradley.
The investigation revealed that the stabbing took place in the kitchen area of the residence.
Police believe that the stabbing occurred during a domestic dispute. The victim was stabbed with a kitchen knife.
Officers arrested Paula Yvette Harris, age 39, who also resides at the Spradley Street address. She was charged with Murder.
Harris became ill while at the police station and was taken to a local hospital for treatment. At the time of this release, she was still being treated at the hospital, but in police custody. She will be transported to the county jail upon release.
