Westwood ISD to hold Town Hall Meeting on new accountability system

PALESTINE, May 19, 2014—Westwood ISD will hold a Town Hall Meeting this evening, at the Westwood High School Theater Arts Auditorium.

The purpose of the meeting is to inform parents and other community members about the new accountability system which must be implemented in order to be in compliance with state regulations. As part of the accountability system, schools must form a committee which will then use state self-ranking guidelines to rank fine arts programs, the gifted and talented program, and others.

“It’s a good way, not only to take a look at what we’re doing, but it’s a good way to give us suggestions for improvement,” said Westwood Superintendent Dr. Ed Lyman.

KYYK’s Gary Richards spoke with Dr. Lyman about the new system and tonight’s meeting. Click below for details.
