Westwood ISD names Interim Principal following sudden Principal resignation

PALESTINE, September 3, 2013--After the sudden resignation of Shane Jones, following his promotion to the permanent position of High School Principal, the Westwood ISD Board has appointed an Interim Principal.

According to Westwood ISD Superintendent Dr. Ed Lyman, the Board has named Robert Kubara to the position of Interim High School Principal. Kubara has formerly served Weswood ISD in positions such as Elementary principal, curriculum and testing specialist, and science teacher.

“As of now, we have a pretty good team in place, I believe,” said Dr. Lyman. “We feel like we’ve got a strong team in place.”

Kubara was scheduled to serve as Assistant Principal of curriculum and instruction prior to Jones’ resignation.

According to Dr. Lyman, the Board will meet on September 9, to discuss the structure of the staff, and what avenues they wish to pursue concerning the position of High School Principal.

KYYK’s Gary Richards spoke with Dr. Lyman about the announcement. Dr. Lyman also gives updates on the budget, tax rates, pay raises, current and upcoming construction, and new computers. Click below for more.
