Westwood ISD Board decides to allow out-of-district transfers

PALESTINE, November 14, 2013—The Westwood ISD School Board at their regular meeting on Monday night, made the decision to allow out-of-district transfer students.

According to Westwood Superintendent Dr. Ed Lyman, the number of allowable transfers will depend on how many children are already enrolled in any specific grade level. The transfers will also be contingent on a student’s past grades, behavior and attendance.

“We are very proud of the outstanding behavior and academics here at Westwood, and we’d like to keep it that way,” said Dr. Lyman. “But we do want to welcome anybody in that’s willing to come join us and enjoy our culture of academic focus.”

Dr. Lyman talked about the decision and gave an update on construction and standardized testing when he spoke with KYYK’s Gary Richards. Click below for more.
