Westwood HS Band Member to play Carnegie Hall Feb. 9

PALESTINE, January 30, 2014— A Westwood High School Senior has been given the chance of a lifetime with an invitation to participate in the Honors Performance Series at Carnegie Hall.

Faith Dingas, a French horn playing member of the Westwood High School Band, says she was nominated by her uncle who is the band director at Odessa High School. After being nominated, she was required to send in recordings along with her performance résumé before being notified of her selection.

As a part of the Honors Performance Series, Dingas will have the opportunity to rehearse and perform with master conductors and be able to perform in front of representatives from college and professional music programs. In addition, the students will be treated to a tour of New York City, special excursions, and a Broadway show.

KYYK’s Gary Richards spoke with Dingas about the exciting opportunity and her fundraising effort and with Westwood Band Director Richard Evans about the Dingas’ opportunity.
