JACKSONVILLE, April 29, 2013--The biggest fire Jacksonville has seen in years erupted this weekend at Yum Yums Restaurant and Bakery on North Main Street, in downtown Jacksonville.
The Jacksonville Fire Department received a call a little after midnight, on Sunday morning, and were able to respond a minute later due to the close proximity of the location.
When responders arrived on scene, the back end of the building was engulfed in flames which quickly spread throughout the old two-story building. Area fire departments assisted Jacksonville in containing the fire a minimizing damage to area locations.
Although several surrounding buildings sustained smoke and water damage, no one was injured. It is believed the fire started in the kitchen area of the downstairs restaurant, but investigators are unsure of the cause at this time.
