Update: Police arrest fourth suspect in PT Cole Park fatal shooting

TYLER, September 5, 2013—UPDATE: Police have arrested the fourth suspect in the fatal shooting case which occurred at PT Cole Park on Tuesday, July 30, 2013.

According to Tyler Police Officer Doyle Lynch, Police received information earlier today, which indicated the suspect, Elisha “EJ” Williams, age 18, was at a residence on S. Fenton Street, in Tyler. Officers set up surveillance on the residence and were able to confirm Williams’ presence. Officers arrested Williams and transported him to Smith County Jail.

Williams is charged with Murder, and his bail has been set at $1 million. The charges stem from an incident which occurred in PT Cole Park, in which Briana Raquel Young was fatally shot.

Update 6

TYLER, August 28, 2013—UPDATE: Tyler Investigators have secured an arrest warrant for Elisha “EJ” Williams, age 18, of Tyler, for Murder. Williams was involved in the shooting death of Briana Raquel Young who was shot in PT Cole Park on Tuesday, July 30, 2013. Judge Jack Skeen set his bond at $1,000,000.

Investigators have not been able to locate Williams and need public assistance in locating him.  Anyone with information about Williams, or any other further details related to this case, is urged to contact the Tyler Police Department, at 903-531-1000, or Crime Stoppers at 903-597-CUFF (2833).  Crime Stoppers will pay up to $1,000 for information that leads to the arrest and charges filed against the suspects in this case.

Tyler Police Investigators, along with the Smith County District Attorney’s Office and U.S. Marshal’s Office, continue to work with each other to bring to justice all suspect(s) involved in the death of Briana Young.

 

Update 5

TYLER, August 16, 2013—UPDATE: Tyler Police Investigators have arrested a third suspect who was involved in the PT Cole Park shooting.

The suspect is identified as Ke’Avier Jarrod Wilson-Hurd, age 20, of Tyler. Wilson-Hurd was identified as the shooter who was in PT Cole Park and fired numerous rounds at Goldstein and Bendy.

On Thursday night, at 11:47 p.m., officers responded to the intersection of Trezevant and N. Grand in reference to a black male standing in the roadway waving a gun around. Officers located the subject and weapon and identified him as Ke’Avier Jarrod Wilson-Hurd. He was placed under arrest for Unlawful Carrying Weapon.

Investigators were notified of the arrest and secured an arrest warrant for Murder on Wilson-Hurd.  Investigators placed the charge of Murder on Wilson-Hurd while he remained in custody at Smith County Jail. Honorable Judge Jack Skeen set his bond at $1,000,000.

 

Update 4

TYLER, August 15, 2013-- Wednesday, August 14, at 4:00 p.m., Tyler Police Investigators arrested a second suspect in connection to the Murder of Briana Raquel Young, who was shot in PT Cole Park on Tuesday, July 30, 2013.

The suspect is identified as Dennis Montrell Bendy, age 19, of Tyler.  Bond was set at $1,000,000 by Honorable Judge Jack Skeen.

Bendy surrendered to Investigators at Tyler Police Department and was then transported to Smith County Jail. Investigators determined that Bendy was a second shooter, along with Goldstein, who had shot from the street into the park.

The case remains under investigation.

 

Update 3

TYLER, August 12, 2013—UPDATE: Monday, August 12, at 12:30 p.m. , Tyler Police Department was notified by Smith County Sheriff’s Department that Rakheem Goldstein had turned himself into the Sheriff’s Department.

Goldstein was wanted in connection with the July 30, shooting death of 20 year-old Briana Raquel Young, which occurred in PT Cole Park.

Tyler Investigators placed Goldstein into custody at the Sheriff’s Department and booked him into Smith County Jail on the Murder warrant.

This case remains under investigation.

An arrest does not mean that the individual or individuals have been convicted of the alleged violation, unless otherwise noted. Individuals are innocent until proven guilty by a court of law.

TYLER, August 9, 2013--Tyler Investigators have secured an arrest warrant for Rakheem Goldstein, age 20, of Tyler, for Murder.  Goldstein was involved in the shooting death of Briana Raquel Young who was shot in PT Cole Park on Tuesday, July 30, 2013.  Judge Jack Skeen set his bond at $1,000,000.

Update 1:

TYLER, July 31, 2013--UPDATE: The 20 year-old female victim who was shot in PT Cole Park is identified as Briana Raquel Young, of Tyler. Young was pronounced dead at the scene by Judge Beavers and her body was sent to Southwest Forensics in Dallas for an autopsy.

Tyler Investigators have determined that Young had brought her 3 year-old son to the park. While in the park, Young was caught in cross-fire when gunfire erupted. Investigators were told that gunfire erupted from within the park and also from a vehicle on Mockingbird Street, adjacent to the park.

Approximately 30 subjects were in the park when the shooting occurred. Young’s child was not harmed from gunfire.

Numerous shell casings were located by crime scene investigators in the park and street. It is believed, at this time, that the shooting is a result of gang activity. Investigators continue to talk to witnesses and search for evidence related to this case.

TYLER, July 31, 2013--On Tuesday, July 30, at approximately 9:41 p.m., Officers responded to PT Cole Park in reference to a shooting.

Officers learned that the victim, a 20 year-old, black female had been shot in the park. The female was pronounced deceased at the scene by Judge Beavers. The name of the victim is not currently being released. This case is currently under investigation by the Tyler Police Department.
