Update: Palestine Police release names in MLK Aggravated Assault investigation

PALESTINE, August 13, 2014— UPDATE: The Palestine Police Department is still investigating an incident which occurred on Martin Luther King Blvd., in which two men were shot.

According to Palestine Police Lt. James Muniz, the shooting victims have been identified as 29 year-old Barry Roberts, and 38 year-old Anthony Milsap.

Roberts and Milsap were found lying in the street with gunshot wounds. The men reported the incident took place at a nearby residence. Both men were transported to Palestine Regional Hospital and then transferred to Mother Francis Hospital in Tyler for treatment.

The suspect, Rueben Bennie Reed, age 29, of Palestine, was arrested at the scene and charged with two counts of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. He is currently being held in the Anderson County Jail on bonds totaling $300,000.

PALESTINE, August 6, 2014—At approximately 5:45 a.m., The Palestine Police Department responded to the 1500 block of Martin Luther King Blvd., in reference to an aggravated assault with a deadly weapon that had just occurred.

Upon arrival, officers observed two male subjects laying in the street with apparent gunshot wounds. The victims reported that the offense occurred at a nearby residence. Officers were able to call out to the residents at the suspected location and were able to have them come out of the house without incident.

EMS responded to the scene and transported both victims to Palestine Regional Hospital. Both subjects were later transferred to Mother Francis Hospital in Tyler.

One male subject was arrested at the scene and charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.
