Update: Cherokee Co. inmate escapee in custody

CHEROKEE CO., May 9, 2014—UPDATE: On Thursday, May 8, at approximately 9:00 p.m., Thomas Kyle Wagoner was apprehended by Deputies with the US Marshals Service.

Wagoner was located at a residence in Frio County, Texas. He was transported to Medina County Jail in Hondo, Texas where he currently awaits extradition back to Cherokee County Jail.

A second individual was arrested at approximately 3:00 a.m., on Thursday, and was charged with Permitting or Facilitating Escape, a 3rd Degree Felony. That individual's name is not being released at this time, pending arraignment.

The investigation is still ongoing, and it is not known at this time if more people will be charged, or if those in custody will have more charges brought against them.

CHEROKEE CO., May 8, 2014— An inmate walked off from the Cherokee County Jail at 7:45 p.m., on Wednesday evening.

The inmate was an outside trustee and had regular access outdoors.  The inmate is identified as Thomas Kyle Wagoner; white male; age 23. He is described as 6'03” and 220 lbs, with brown eyes and brown hair.

Wagoner has family scattered across Cherokee County, and in the areas of Frankston, Troup, and Whitehouse.
