Union Pacific makes major purchase in Anderson County

ANDERSON CO., December 16, 2013— Anderson County Judge Robert Johnston has confirmed a major purchase in Anderson County by Union Pacific.

According to Judge Johnston, Union Pacific has purchased the old ALCOA property, which is located approximately 1.5 miles off Hwy 79, outside of Palestine. Union Pacific reportedly paid $4.6 million for the property.

The almost 300 acre site will be converted to a brand new facility, which will mean a boost for Anderson County jobs and economy.
