Tyler PD investigates vehicle, pedestrian accident on Chandler Highway

TYLER, July 14, 2014--UPDATE: The pedestrian involved in Sunday's accident has been identified as Jorge Estrella Patino, age 23, of Kilgore, Texas. Patino is expected to survive from injuries he sustained in the accident.

TYLER, July 14, 2014 -- On Sunday, at 5:45 a.m., Tyler Police Officers were dispatched to the 5400 block of Chandler Highway, in reference to a oedestrian traffic accident. A paramedic on his way home stopped to administer medical attention. Officers arrived on scene to find a white male had been struck by a white Cadillac Deville.

The vehicle involved was traveling west on Chandler Highway, in the inside lane, when it struck a pedestrian. The pedestrian suffered serious injuries and was transported to East Texas Medical Center. The driver and passenger in the vehicle were not injured. Standardized Field Sobriety Tests were performed on the driver and there were no signs of the driver being intoxicated. 

There were no citations issued and the driver was not found to be at fault for the accident.
