Tyler ISD students earn top prizes at UIL competitions

TYLER, March 22, 2013--The Hubbard Middle School University Interscholastic League (UIL) Team took home top prizes at two meets this year. The UIL Team competed at the Hallsville Elite Junior High UIL Invitational in January and hosted the UIL District Meet earlier this month. More than 120 Hubbard students competed at the two UIL meets.

At the Hallsville Elite Junior High UIL Invitational, Hubbard won the second place sweepstakes trophy after competing in 19 different events throughout the day. Twenty students and teams of students came away with first place trophies in their categories.

Hubbard also earned the UIL District Championship title at their most recent meet. Students competed in events ranging from speaking and writing to science and music memory.

“I am so proud of our hardworking Hubbard UIL Team,” Rebecca Clements, Hubbard teacher and UIL coordinator, said. “Their dedication to study throughout the year has paid off!”
