Two rescued by boaters after plane crashes into Lake Palestine

PALESTINE, July 7, 2014—Two men were rescued by local boaters after their plane crashed into Lake Palestine over the weekend, according to Texas Parks and Wildlife Game Warden Captain Quint Ballcom.

The men were apparently attempting to land the twin-engine Sesna 310, when they lost power and crashed into Lake Palestine on Saturday afternoon. The pilot, 56 year-old Gary Buster, and passenger, 31 year-old Aaron Buster, were rescued by boaters who witnessed the accident.

“We had a victory. It’s nice to have a victory on something like this…to have two people survive such a tragic event – we have some families who have found peace in that,” said Captain Ballcom. “It just was a display of what Texans are capable of – both the private and the law enforcement and first responder groups.”

The two men remain hospitalized in stable condition. Investigation into the accident continues.
