Trial concludes for final suspect in Mr. D's robbery

PALESTINE, August 29, 2013--The trial of Jhamerrick Milton concluded Wednesday. Milton’s was the last of three trials held in connection with the August, 2012, robbery and shooting which took place at Mr. D’s.

Milton was charged with Aggravated Robbery for his role in the incident which took place at the store in August, 2012. Three suspects were charged in the early morning robbery, during which Fred Robinson, a 62 year-old store clerk, was shot in the face with a .22 caliber rifle. Robinson was hospitalized and later discharged. According to police, Robinson has since passed away, but the cause of death is not believed to be related to the incident.

According to Anderson County Assistant District Attorney Scott Holden, Jhamerrick Milton was convicted Wednesday, of Aggravated Robbery. Milton was sentenced to 25 years in prison and fined $7,500 for his role in the incident. Milton was tried in Palestine District Court with Judge Mark Calhoun presiding.

According to Anderson County District Attorney Doug Lowe, the cases of the other two suspects, John Nicholas Hicks and Anthony Robert Mrdjenovich, have already been disposed. Hicks was sentenced to 10 years, and has since been released on probation, and Mrdjenovich received a sentence of probation.
