TPD seeks suspect in attempted ATM theft at CVS Pharmacy

TYLER, December 18, 2013— This morning, at approximately 2:37 a.m., Tyler police officers responded to a commercial burglary alarm at the CVS Pharmacy located at 4922 S. Broadway Ave.

While en route, officers were notified that off-site security personnel had witnessed the incident and stated the suspect fled the area in a dark colored van. Officers immediately began searching the area, but were unable to locate a vehicle matching that description. Additional officers responded to the scene and observed that the business’ front doors had been forced open with no other property appearing to have been damaged or stolen.

The store’s security video was reviewed and showed what appears to be an older model mini-van (unknown color) backing-up to the business’ front doors. An unknown suspect exits the vehicle, forcibly opens the business’ front doors, and attempts to remove the store’s ATM machine. Following several failed attempts to remove the ATM from the store, the suspect flees the area in the older model mini-van.

The suspect appears to be wearing dark colored pants, a dark colored over-shirt, a white undershirt, white shoes, and a white cloth covering his face. No other description of the suspect could be obtained.

Anyone with information about this case is urged to contact the Tyler Police Department, at 903-531-1000, or Crime Stoppers at 903-597-CUFF (2833). Crime Stoppers will pay up to $1,000 for information that leads to the arrest and charges filed against the suspects in this case or any felony case.
