TPD seeks information in S. Broadway attempted robbery case

TYLER, August 20, 2014—Wednesday morning, at approximately 12:07 a.m., Officers with the Tyler Police Department responded to 4014 S. Broadway on an Attempted Robbery call.

An employee of Arby’s was leaving work and getting into her vehicle.  After unlocking her vehicle, she got into the driver’s seat and attempted to close the door. An unknown subject grabbed the door and prevented her from closing it. He then sprayed her with mace and pulled her from the vehicle. He ran around her vehicle and got into the passenger side door and proceeded to rummage through her vehicle. At this time, the victim fled the scene and ran to McDonalds next door. An employee there called 911. The suspect had fled the scene prior to the arrival of officers. The victim reported nothing appeared to be stolen at this time.

The suspect was described as a male, wearing all black, with a black ski mask that had a skull print on the front. No other description is available at this time.

The victim suffered no physical injuries other than those commonly associated with getting sprayed by mace.

Anyone with information in this case is urged to contact the Tyler Police Department at 903-531-1000 or Tyler/Smith County Crime Stoppers at 903-597-CUFF. Crime Stoppers will pay up to $1,000 for information that leads to the arrest and charges filed against the suspects in this case or any other felony case.
