TOPS group completes Walk Across Texas program

PALESTINE, April 16, 2013-- The Palestine TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) group recently completed the Walk Across Texas Program.  Walk Across Texas was established in 1996 by Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service.  It uses friendly competition and group support to help people not only start exercising regularly, but also to continue exercising long after Walk Across Texas is over.

Walk Across Texas is a free 8-week program that has proven results in increasing physical activity.  The Palestine TOPS groups had much success with the program.  The team completed a total of 1,302.45 miles throughout the 8-week program!  The top three walkers included:  Jeri Whitten – 490.25 miles, Janice Sadler – 245 miles, and Violet Lynch – 185.95 miles.  All participants were very enthusiastic and dedicated to the program.

TOPS is a non-profit group that focuses on making small, steady lifestyle changes that provide lasting weight loss and better health.  They offer a network of thousands of weight-loss support groups that provide a judgment-free zone where real people learn how they can make changes and get the support they need to reach their goals.  For more information regarding TOPS visit, www.tops.org.
