TYLER, January 2, 2014-- Members of the Tyler Fire Department Combat Challenge Team were recently invited to participate in the Scott Firefighter Combat Challenge Cotton Bowl Invitational to be held at AT&T Stadium on Friday, January 3, 2014. This special honor was extended to Tyler’s “Over 40 Team,” who recently participated in both the Brookshire’s Regional Combat Challenge competition in October, of last year, as well as the World Firefighter Combat Challenge that was held in Las Vegas on October 22 – 27, of 2013.
This is the first ever invitation-only Firefighter Combat Challenge that will take place at the AT&T Cotton Bowl in Arlington, Texas, on Friday. This competition has been described by ESPN as the “toughest two minutes in sports.” Members of Tyler’s team will participate and compete in the event which will be held prior to the Cotton Bowl Classic.
Tyler’s firefighters have also been invited to assist with the unfurling of the American flag on the field of AT&T Stadium as part of the opening ceremonies for the Cotton Bowl Classic between Oklahoma State University and the University of Missouri.
Tyler’s Over 40 Team, comprised of members over the age of forty, include: Jeff Barnett, Brandon Davis, Brent Hail, Terry Hawkins and Randy Lee.
