Texas Forestry Museum to offer Docent Training Aug. 8

LUFKIN, July 26, 2013-- The Texas Forestry Museum will be hosting a docent training on Thursday, August 8, 2013, from 9:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.

This training is open to anyone interested in becoming a volunteer tour guide for the museum. The museum is also inviting students in grades 9th – 12th to become Junior Docents.

The workshop will include docent etiquette and a museum tour by long time museum volunteer, John Courtenay. Refreshments will also be served.

The Texas Forestry Museum is a private non-profit organization. No admission is charged. Funds for educational programs, exhibits and general operations are generated through membership in the museum’s Society, through contributions and grants, and through fundraisers.

The Texas Forestry Museum is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Saturday, except on major holidays. Visit the museum at 1905 Atkinson Drive in Lufkin.
