Tea Time with American Girls at the Tyler Public Library

TYLER, December 6, 2013— The Tyler Public Library is celebrating past and present American Girls© with its annual American Girl© Holiday Tea on Sunday, Dec. 8, at 2 p.m., in the Library’s Taylor Auditorium. Girls up to age 12 are invited to put on their holiday best and bring a special grown-up to share tea and holiday goodies along with their favorite American Girl© heroine.

Each year a special guest speaker is invited to speak about topics that are important to modern American Girls.© This year’s guest speaker is Dr. Alisa White, Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic A%EF%AC%80airs at The University of Texas at Tyler.  Dr. White holds a Master of Science in Library and Information Science as well as a Ph.D. in Mass Communication.

“The Library promotes learning, and having Dr. White address our young ladies about the benefits of education will be so enriching,” said City Librarian Mary Vernau. “Plus, this event has become a great tradition with our families that use the Library; we hope to see familiar and new faces at this holiday celebration.”

Also included in the event is the American Girl© Fashion Show. The girls are welcome to walk the American Girl© fashion runway, dressed as their favorite character or simply as a ‘Girl of Today’. Dolls or other special toys are also invited. Tea, lemonade, coffee and light snacks will be provided.
