Suspicious person call leads to pursuit, arrest of Tyler man

TYLER, April 3, 2013—This morning, at 6:51 a.m., Tyler Police responded to Capital One Bank, located at 909 ESE Loop 323, on a report of a suspicious person.

The female caller stated as she got off the elevator to go to work, she was approached by a black male, later identified as Alvord Martin, age 23, of Tyler.  She felt threatened by him and got back on the elevator to remove herself from the situation. She then called police.

Martin reportedly fled the building on foot and was later reported to be on the Robert E. Lee campus causing a disturbance.  He left the campus on foot and went to an office building at 821 ESE Loop 323, and, according to police, assaulted a female by physical contact.  Martin then fled that office building and evaded police in and around Loop 323 and Donnybrook.

Martin was eventually apprehended and arrested. He was transported to Smith County Jail and charged with Criminal Mischief, (2) Class C Assaults, Burglary of Vehicle, and Evading and Resisting Arrest.
