Stolen vehicle suspect arrested after pursuit, assault on officer

CROCKETT, September 13, 2013--On Wednesday, September 11, Crockett Police Officers were dispatched to a local drugstore in the Crockett Square on a stolen vehicle call.

According to Crockett Police Detective Clayton Smith, a man had left his vehicle running in the parking lot while he went into the drugstore. While he was inside, a suspect, later identified as Jacob Kyle Graham, of Crockett, got into the running vehicle and fled, southbound, on Hwy 19.

Police contacted OnStar and were able to track the vehicle. Police were able to make contact with Trinity County and Walker County deputies. Deputies in Walker County made contact with Graham and awaited the arrival of Crockett Police Officers.

As Officers were transporting Graham back to Houston County, he became belligerent in the patrol car, slamming his head into the cage and, at one point, spitting blood on an Officer. He was taken to Walker County Jail until Officers could maintain control, and then transported to Houston County where he was booked on charges of Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, a prior warrant for Criminal Trespass out of Houston County. A charge for Assault on a Public Servant is also pending, and will be filed in Walker County.
