Smith Co. Sheriff's Office arrests homicide suspect

SMITH CO., August 18, 2014— At approximately 1:48 a.m., this morning, Smith County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch received a 911 call regarding an unresponsive man.  Patrol deputies and EMS responded to the call and arrived to find the individual to be deceased in the laundry room of a residence in the 3700 block of Jackson Avenue, in the northeastern part of Smith County.

Smith County Sheriff’s Office detectives and crime scene specialists have determined that the man, R. L. Britton, 56, of Tyler, was a victim of homicide.  The suspect has been identified as Randall Britton, 28, of Tyler.   Randall Britton has been charged with murder with the warrant issued by Judge Christi Kennedy of the 114th State District Court who set a $150,000 bond.  He is currently being booked into the Smith County Jail.
