Shreveport accident claims life of Palestine man

PALESTINE, July 8, 2013--A tragic accident in Shreveport has claimed the life of 51 year-old Curtis Bentley of Palestine. Curtis Bentley was the nephew of KYYK’s Homer Bentley, host of the Sunday morning radio show Southern Joy.

According to reports, Bentley was driving a Mazda in Shreveport on Sunday, June 30, when he lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle collided with a median, and then travelled over a bridge railing and down the embankment to the road shoulder. Upon impact, the car burst into flames. Bentley was able to exit the vehicle, but walked into oncoming traffic on Hwy I-20 and was struck by several vehicles.

Memorial services for Bentley will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Friday, July 12, at Memory Lane Missionary Baptist Church, 2213 Crockett Road, in Palestine.

The team at YourEastTexas.com extends our deepest sympathy. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Bentley family during this difficult time.
