Sheriff's Office urges citizens to remain at location of incident

ANDERSON CO., August 27, 2013—Anderson County Sheriff Greg Taylor issued a statement yesterday, urging residents to help save taxpayer dollars by remaining at their residence, business, or wherever the incident occurred, when filing a report.

The statement read as follows:

“As your Sheriff, I would like to ask for a favor from each one of our county residents. We have patrol deputies assigned to specific areas in the county to respond to the needs of our citizens. As much as possible, I require the deputies to stay in their areas of assignment in the county so they can be visible, deter crime, and respond to our citizens’ needs when they arise. The favoc I am asking of our county residents is that when they have a need to make a report of a crime or incident, that they would remain as their residence, business, or wherever the incident occurred. This would allow my deputies to remain in their areas of assignment and more quickly respond to your needs. This would also save fuel (which saves tax dollars), and improve response times. I realize there are going to be exceptions, but as a general rule, I would appreciate your cooperation.”
