Shakira, the featured Wednesday's Pet

The Anderson County Humane Society, KNET, and YourEastTexas.com have teamed up to help the pets at the Humane Society find homes. Every Wednesday on The Mayor in the Morning radio show on KNET at about 7:30 a.m. we feature a new pet.

Shakira is a medium-size Rottweiler-Terrier Mix, who will probably be about 30 lbs when she is full grown. She is seven months old, and has been at the shelter since November 9, 2012.

Shakira is black and tan with Rottweiler markings, a long tail, folded ears, and a very sweet face.

Shakira gets along well with other dogs and loves to run and play. She loves the game of chase, and hardly ever bars at all. She is a little on the timid side with people, but seems to be very smart and is already picking up on the “sit” command.

She was picked up from the S. Royal area, is current on all her shots. She has a $35 sponsor and is available for the adoption fee of $60.

Shakira is still at the shelter because she is very timid. When people come to pick out a dog, she hides on her bed, and doesn’t come forward. Please don’t let this deter you from getting to know a very sweet dog who just needs a loving home.
