Self-reported victim of East Starr Ave. kidnapping arrested for false report

NACOGDOCHES, October 9, 2013— The investigation into a reported kidnapping has resulted in an arrest for False Report to a Peace Officer.

Nacogdoches Police arrested Melrina Jessica Stemn, age 23, of Nacogdoches, on a warrant yesterday. She was taken to the Nacogdoches County Jail.

Stemn reported last week that she was kidnapped in the 1300 block of East Starr Avenue, by a black male suspect.

After investigating this report for over a week, NPD detectives determined that this report was fabricated.

Original Story

NACOGDOCHES, October 2, 2013--On Wednesday, at about 2:30 p.m., a complainant reported to the Nacogdoches Police Department that she had been kidnapped the night before on East Starr Avenue.

The female complainant reported that she was walking along East Starr Avenue, in the 1300 block, on Tuesday, at about 9:00 p.m., when she was approached by a black pickup truck. The driver of the truck told the victim to get in the truck. The victim reported seeing a handgun in the truck.

The victim got in the truck, and the suspect drove them around Nacogdoches for a period of time. The suspect reportedly touched the victim in a manner that she felt to be offensive.

After approximately an hour and a half, the suspect returned the victim to the original location on Starr Avenue, and released her.

The suspect is described as a black male in his 20’s, approximately 6 feet tall, last seen wearing a t shirt and blue jeans.

There were no injuries in the incident. This offense is currently under investigation, more information will be released as it becomes available.
