Rusk Chamber of Commerce Fair on the Square May 23-25

RUSK, May 14, 2013-- The 22nd Annual Fair on the Square will be held in downtown Rusk on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, May 23 - 25, 2013. Crabtree's Amusements will be returning to the festivities.  The carnival rides will be located on Henderson and Fifth Street, in downtown Rusk. Plan to take some time to get re-acquainted with family, friends and neighbors at the Fair on the Square.  Arts & craft booth spaces are still available, $25.00 for Saturday.

Thursday, May 23,2013:

Beginning at 5:00 p.m., Crabtree's Amusements will open their rides and present Family $1 Night. Carnival rides will be $1. Music provided by Payton Swift from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m., on the big stage on Main Street.

Crabtree's Amusements sell wrist bands for an unlimited amount of rides to those who want to ride more than one time. One-time rides will be offered at regular price.

Performing from 6:30  - 10:30 p.m., Friday night, on the big stage will be "The Papers" featuring Clinton Alford, lead vocal; Ian Chandler, vocal and guitar; Hampton Chandler, guitar; Kasey Keahey, bass guitar; and Kelly Keahey on the drums. This band started when members were growing up together in Rusk. They have since moved to different places.

7:00 a.m. check in, late registration. At 8:00 a.m: 1 mile Kid's Fun Run (12 and under), 8:30 a.m.: 5K Run for the 3rd Annual "Who Let the Dog's Out" 5K Fun.  For more information visit www.WhoLetTheDogsOutRace.org/ or contact Chris Holcomb at the Cherokee Animal Clinic at 903.683.5315.

8:00 a.m., Crafters and exhibits will open their booths.  Some of the events scheduled at the main stage will be age and gender preferences including the hairiest chest for males only, face off-zombie explosion for ages 12-15 with costume make-up provided for the wannabe zombies; kids say the funniest things for ages 3-4 year-olds; funniest helium singer; the dating game; wedded bliss? for married couples; all ages, water balloon toss and cooling off from the hot sun.

Evening activities will include CATDADDY from 6:30  - 10:30 p.m. The band features Bill McGee, guitar; Steve Roach, drums; Ronnie Weiss (Mouse from Mouse and the Traps), guitar; and Geral (Uncle Sticks) Pierce, bass guitar. Barb's Too will be downtown with crawfish and crab-legs and the carnival will light up the sky with rides.
