Rufus, the featured Wednesday's Pet

The Anderson County Humane Society, KNET, and YourEastTexas.com have teamed up to help the pets at the Humane Society find homes. Every Wednesday on The Mayor in the Morning radio show on KNET at about 7:30 a.m. we feature a new pet.

Rufus is a medium-size male terrier mix. He came to the shelter as a stray on February 26, 2013.

Rufus is full grown and weighs about 25-30 pounds. He has short legs and a long body, long tail, and folded ears. His coat is champagne colored, and his hair is long. He has beautiful caramel brown eyes.

He has not been neutered, and it is unknown if he is housebroken.

He is submissive to other dogs, and a little timid; however, he tries to play with them.

Rufus was great during his bath. He appears to know a few commands including sit. He comes when called, and loves a good belly rub. He is very playful and sweet.

He could be an inside dog. Due to his long coat, he wouldn’t do well living pasture life because everything would stick in his coat. When tested, he liked to lie on the front porch and didn’t go off exploring.  He did well when crated.
