Rescheduled Frost Fest activities to take place this week

PALESTINE, December 18, 2013— Frost Fest events that were postponed a couple of weeks ago due to weather are scheduled to take place this week.

Events scheduled to take place on Friday, December 20, include the Snow Tubing Slide, Ice Skating, and Frosty Mug Beer Garden.

“We are very excited about the snow tubing slide,” said Marc Mitchell, Executive Director of the Palestine Area Chamber of Commerce. “This 110ft snow tubing slide promises to be a huge attraction for fun seekers of all ages and will draw not only local families, but also many new visitors to Palestine from the entire Piney Woods region. The slide will be conveniently located in the heart of historic downtown Palestine, and will have real snow and ice!”

The snow tube will only be in Palestine on Friday, and will be open from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

“We are expecting a large turnout for the snow tubing, and are encouraging people to come down early,” said Mitchell.

The ice skating rink will also be open from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., on Friday, and the Frosty Mug Beer Garden will be open from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

On December 21, the ice skating rink, rescheduled entertainment, and peddlers will be downtown. The announcing of the contest winners will also take place on Saturday. Currently, applications for the Gingerbread Contest and the Beard Contest are still being accepted, and can be picked up at the Chamber office.
