TYLER, August 28, 2014— From Sept. 9 through Oct. 21, Liberty Hall will host Card 53’s School of Improvisational Comedy Level 1 Improv Class on Tuesday evenings from 7-9 p.m. Designed for participants 17 years of age and older, this six-week course will teach the basics of scenic improvisation including listening skills. Getting participants out of their comfort zones, this class will help increase self-confidence.
A founding member of Tyler's first and only improv troupe, Card 53, Teacher Jamey Whitley has been performing improvisational comedy for five years. Having studied at Second City in Chicago as well as being under the tutelage of several teachers in the Dallas/Ft. Worth Metroplex, Whitley has also performed with various troupes in Dallas.
“Improv was an outlet for me when I was going through a rough time in life. I quickly learned how the principles of improvisational comedy can be applied to everyone and all aspects of life,” Whitley shared. “It’s great not only for actors and comedians but it’s also perfect for the everyday business person looking to get more comfortable in front of people. It’s also a good way to find that child-like sense of play we sometimes lose when we decide to grow up.”
The cost for this six-week class is $175.00 per person. Special payment arrangements are available and should be made in advance. Class size is limited to 12 people so register now at www.LibertyTyler.com. For further information, please contact Jamey Whitley at firstname.lastname@example.org.
