The City of Palestine has announced ...
ANDERSON CO., March 29, 2013--The Anderson County Rainbow Room is an emergency resource center that distributes new items such as food, clothing, and diapers to clients of Child Protective Services (CPS) in Anderson County.
Many times when a CPS caseworker enters a home, they find families living in deplorable conditions. Some children sleep on floor and others have little food or clothing. Frequently, children are removed from their homes without clean clothes, diapers, or formula. The most basic needs of a family in crisis are often unavailable and caseworkers are unable to provide the necessities from their own pockets. Because of the Rainbow Room, assistance with basic needs is made available through the donations of Anderson County residents and businesses. The Rainbow Room enables families to stay together through traumatic times; it can be equally critical in developing a helping relationship between CPS caseworkers and their client’s families.
The Rainbow Room is in need of diapers, baby formula, personal hygiene items, and household cleaning supplies. Another essential need is non-refrigerated items such as spaghetti sauces and noodles, hamburger and tuna helpers, canned chicken, turkey, or ham, Vienna sausages, soups, and cereals.
For more information about the Rainbow Room, contact the Palestine Resource Center for Independent Living, 421 Avenue A., 903-729-7505.
